Have pretty low oil pressure (hot 20# max)on my 2404 (C135 engine). I'm going to pull the pan before too long and have a look at the oil pump an related stuff. I'm told there is a good possibility the gears may have cut into the pot metal bottom plate and or the paper gasket between the plate and oil pump housing may be bad. Either one causes the oil to bypass the system.
My question is can I "roll in" a set of upper mains in this motor while I have the pan off? Any tricks to this procedure?
Motor is plenty strong and doesn't use oil or smoke, so don't think a full bore overhaul is warranted. Any advice on the oil pressure issue and bearing thing would be greatly appreciated.
