IH made a lot of Hydro's they we're very proud of this innovative transmission. It was innovative in it's time. I think the following were made with hydro transmissions in addition to gear:

Hydro's were tremendous tractors for planting, hay (cutting bailing) and harvesting or anything that needed variable independant PTO and ground speeds. It's ability to creep was far superior to the optional creeper gears in todays tractors. HOWEVER it was terrible for tillage.
The drawbar HP was generally 30% less then the PTO HP versus gear that would only loose 10%.
Also, the transmission really didn't hold up under constant tillage.
