T-man: I have never pulled stumps with a tractor before, but I have read many posts here on ytmag before. I will try to smmarize. Pulling stumps with a tractor is often referred to as a widow-maker. I guess it is fairly easy to flip your tractor if the stump becomes immovable at some point in the pulling process. Most posts I have read here suggest using a T-bar. I hope someone else can chime in here. I have never used one. From others descriptions, it is large heavy duty metal T. The chain is hooked to the stump from the T, and the tractor is hooked to the T. The T is taller than the stump and changes the direction of pull. It sort of lifts the stump out vertically.
