I've been using a 630 JD for 32 years that had been turned over and burned up. It has served me well. Barn fire might be different, but ALL the tires were burned off of this tractor, along with hoses, steering wheel, well, anything that would be consumed by flame. I overhauled the engine, replaced everything that was destroyed by flame/heat. I never got new sheetmetal for it. Seems the price was always more than I was willing to give. It's my favorite tractor - it sat in a fence row for nine years before I bought it - there's nine years of rest that all of the other 630's probably missed. . .

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for �200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
