You may have better luck getting more answers on the Farmall side of this site. Probably I will forget something but will give your question a shot. Early M gas tractors used a grill and hood that fit together different at front of hood. Most M and SM gas tractor hoods will interchange. Some used a extra grease access hole in top that later ones didn't. when starting tank equiped a hole for fill neck was added in hood that straight gas tractors didn't have. Some are made a little different at rear where steering shaft passes under. All MD, SMD and SMTAD use the same basic hood except for minor differences. SM LP tractors hood was different than others. SMTA gas used a hood longer than the other gas tractors(around 1.5 to 1.625 longer) with some having the extra hole for kerosene or distillite starting tank fill. MD, SMD, SMTAD and SMTA gas all used the same length hood but the gas and diesel hoods are different.
