I thouht the Plasma had better color, black verses greys on the LCD when viewed side by side. Light reflecting on the plasma can be a problem as we found when the wife decided to move the tv to a lighter area. The plasma has a glass screen that is tough and easy to clean. The LCD plastic type screen needs light cleaning only, and can scratch if attacked by a child with a stick, dogs claw etc. Both will be great improvement if you currently have a tube type tv. Chris
