Clayton L Curtiss started his camping trailer business in Norwich, NY, and later moved it to Classic ST. in Sherburne. My Father worked for him for several years building camping trailers, truckracks,toy ironing boards etc. Most of the machines in his shop were homemade by Clayt. He once showed me one of the tractoe lugs he had in his shop and told me that Henry Ford told him if he had started building it earlier he could have made him a rich man, but this was when rubber tires were just coming out. I purchased his welder and Planer when he was to old to use them any more. During Hurricane Hazel he and my father were up in the barn trying to keep the roof from blowing off, they suceeded. He died at about 96 yrs old and his wife died about 5 yrs later. He had a tough life, but was a self made man.
