this has been discussed here before and I was under the same impression. but after someone basically told me off that I had no clue what I was talking about. So I checked and anything under 26,000 does not require air brake test but you can get a class A or B with air brake restrictions. A friend of mine went to take the driving test to upgrade from B to A and his truck and trailer was considered A class but no air brakes and they told him he would have the air brake restriction even though he passed in a class B with air. He chose not to take the test then and went back in another truck.
