I'm not trying to sell balers. I've always had Gehls. Bought a new 1500a in 79. Made a 5x6. I ran that with a 56hp JD 730 diesel and a 706 Farmall. Traded in 81 for a 1450 4x5 bale. Ran that with several tractors, smallest was a 53hp Oliver 1550 gas.I've traded up from there, but always 4x5 Gehls. That 165 should handle a 4x5 baler OK. Depending on what you've got to handle them,I'd go with the 4x5 instead of the 4x4. Big enough package to make handling them worth your while. Remember some geometry here and how much hay is in that last foot. The 4 foot length makes them nice to haul on an 8 foot wagon or trailer.
