I suspect that the engine displacement is not that critical. Automobile engines run at higher RPM and thus flow far more CFM. One Farmall Cub enthusiast mounted a Briggs-Stratton cast iron carburetor from an old one-cylinder 1 1/2 HP cast iron engine on a Cub and realized slightly more HP than the original Cub carburetor. Verified on a dynamometer. The instantaneous peak flow rate might differ slightly with two engines of equal displacement running at the same speed if one engine was 6-cylinder and the other 4-cylinder. Replacement carburetors, such as Zenith, are often listed for use on a variety of engines of varying displacement.
