My home HVAC unit has a small pump (shoe box size) with a reserviour that collects water from the humidifier portion of the unit and then pumps it through a hose through the ceiling and into floor drain. This deal woks about the opposite of a toilet- a ball on a lever trips a microswitch that turns the little pump on when the ball is up (pushing the microswitch lever up), and when the water is gone and the ball is down it shuts off. I was in the basement today and heard the thing running- daughter said it had been running all day. reserviour ws bone dry- when I picked it up and turned it over ( ball falls to up position) it shut off. So- now it wants to turn on when empty and off when full. I took it appart, and there is NO WAY to hook the microswitch lever that would have the arm up and turn power on and turn power off when the lever is down. CAn a microswitch just decide it wants to operate backwards all of a sudden?
