Yes,that was all that I used for a haybine for 13 years. They work better in alfalfa or clover than they do in grass hay. Just depends on how sharp they are. They tend to slide over grass hay and leave some long stubble if they get beat up or dull. It doesn't grind it up like a brush hog does. Just kinks the stem so it will dry faster. There's nothing better in down alfalfa though. Tends to suck it right up off the ground. If you cut cornstalks with one,going in the opposite direction from which it was picked,it cuts the stalks to pieces as they feed in since the other end is still anchored to the ground.
