Glufosinate(Liberty) Use: Non-selective control of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds Crops are genetically modified to tolerate glufosinate Corn and soybeans (Liberty-Link) No soil residual activity Glutamine synthetase inhibition (plants cannot metabolize nitrogen and ammonia builds up in plant and kills it)
The difference is that glyphosate blocks the shikimic acid pathway. I haven't heard of either being better than the other. Its a good option to avoid selecting out RU resistant plants if they are there. They are both non selective and degrade when the hit the soil. SuperHank, my prof said yesterday over 70% of corn and 90% of soybeans are glyphosate resistant. Kinda scary if you ask me.
