I was late coming to the farm so I was about 24 and new to machinery. My neighbor was working with his JD2940 and got stuck. He asked me to help pull him out and I jumped at the chance. The puller was his JD2010 gas with that select-o-never shifter. The high range was out of the transmission and he had to put it into gear for me because I couldn't figure it out. Just as he was unstuck someone came to see him and he took off for the barn. I couldn't figure out how to get out of low gear and it took me quite a while to catch up to him. I never did meet the folks that came to visit. Years later I drove a JD4020(?) with that same style shifter. It was better but still bad. Thanks for the memories!
