That's the point that you definitely do NOT want to apply pressure with a lead rope- pull and they will only pull back and up, putting her head into the top of the trailer. If this is a two horse side by side, pull the divider- more room for you and the horse to work comfortably in...if it's a slant, pull the rear tack and give her a wide opening. I sometimes pull a lunge line from one door opening around her hocks and then apply pressure from the other side- with much gentle talk, it usually works.
