Stevens steps down / kicked out, Alaska uses Special Elections to fill the seat. She can stay as Governor and run for the seat.
Now, most Presidents come from the Governor ranks, so it's not a sure bet that's the best decision.
On the plus side, she can take her time to build up her national issues credentials, and that's probably easier in the Senate. I don't think in any case she'd be ready in 2012. 2016 though would be very realistic.
