The risk from overdoing it would be that the flywheel would get burned and likewise, the pressure plate. Most of the time the flywheel can be turned, and it's so much trouble to change the clutch, I always put a new pressure plate in anyway(and throwout bearing and pilot bushing, if applicable). I think I'd give it a couple of sessions, if it doesn't fix it, I'd inquire about the cost of a new flywheel in case it becomes unsalvageable and then decide if continuing to operate the tractor in that condition is worth the risk.
