My college roomate was from there. (Gering actually) His family farms south of there a good distance. Been there several times myself. Mostly pasture and CRP now but was fallow strips and wheat for many years, dryland corn, and millet. Farmed with old Oliver 99's and 990's, then 4wd verstiles and wagners. Any serious farming, I would look for irrigation.
