Its the american consumer that loved big trucks and SUV"s and as soon as gas prices went up(again perpetuated by the american consumers retirement account managers speculating on oil) the wanted fuel efficient cars that only the japanese build instead of the beamoths that american consumers had demanded from GM, Chrysler, and Ford. Companies respond to what you want, and when times get tough and you stop spending money its their employees, which might just be YOU that get hurt.
