Clean ASTM No2 fuel contains 500ppm of water content contained with-in the fuel.
At 1000ppm you will have "free water" or excess water that can be drained off.
I don't put any fuel in my tanks that is not filtered. My current set-up is a 12v Flojet 5gpm pump into a Racor 10u fliter into a Dahl 2u filter. Both filters have water traps and drains so I would just pump until I seen water show up at the drains, then toss the rest.
I also put a 2x4 under each 55gal drum after turning the bung opening to the side.Very little water can set upon the lid using this method.
