For Hiway use, you can't beat the Michelin LTX, although it's a bit pricey. A real good deal on a name brand tire would be the Uniroyal Laredo- similar to the BFG Long Trail but a bit milder tread pattern. Mich/ BFG/ Uniroyal all owned by MIch now, and some good stuff rubbing off on 'em. I've hung a lot of Uni's on friends trucks lately because they are inexpensive, and they all like 'em. Those Continentals you're hearing about are little more than cosmeticly altered Generals- also a pretty weak choice. Mostly OE Ford stuff, usually sold as singles to match what's on the truck already. Best all-around, multi-use truck tire in my opinion? BFG All Terrains. I routinely get 80k out of mine, and they work well off road as well.
