They are going to stop broadcasting in analog in February, and instead only use digital broadcasts. What that means is that you need either a new HDTV, or one of the digital converter boxes.
You hook up the converter box, and that will use an antenna to get the signals, which has the 13-1 and 13-2 stuff that Buzzman mentioned.
Lots of stations already use the digital broadcasting, but not all of them do yet. That might lead to some troubles for those of us trying to switch early. I will say that depending on where you live, the "rabbit ears" antennas might not work so well anymore, and you may have to go buy a new antenna.
