I smoked my last 6 weeks ago after over 25 yrs of smoking. I used (am using) a prescription product called Chantix that blocks nicotine from attaching to receptors in the brain (which would otherwise produce dopamine�s). You take this for a week before stopping smoking and toward the end of that week I noticed the 'thrill was gone' (not totally, but much less). I started noticing the bad taste and smoked much less before stopping all together. There's more to the treatment. They call once a day to check on progress, and I check in to their web site daily (now weekly) for reinforcement. I probably wouldn't have stayed away this long without all this support. I intend to never smoke again. I've seen the impact smoking has on old timers and it isn�t pretty.
