Torque converters are used in heavy industrial equipment such as dozers, scrapers, Payloaders, mining trucks, etc. so they should stand up to the heavy use. Case and Oliver used them in their heavy tractors, too. Allis used them in large 'dozers and cooled them with Diesel fuel. They are good in heavy pulling as they cushion the drive train and multiply the torque, but have not been in universal favor due to the fuel efficiency penalty (in non-lockup form).
