I was maybe 5 years old in the middle 1930's in NW Iowa. I can rember my mother lighting a kerosene lamp in the middle of the afternoon because of a dust storm. That was a big thing, as we never "burned a hole in the day". Then in the late 1950's, there were some pretty severe dust storms in our area. With minimum and no till practices those days are pretty much gone. However, farmers that turn the ground black, do have blowing dust under the "right" conditions.
