The kids at the local one room school house used to get the day off in the winter by sneaking up on the roof and covering the chimney. When the first kid came in to light the fire the place would fill up with smoke and the teacher would cancel class!
Can you imagine now assigning a kid fire building duty at the school and they had to get there an hour early to build up the old pot belly stove? Place only went to grade 9 I think. Wooden building.
