Even leaving a 16" CRT computer on will use almost the same power as a 60 watt bulb (56w). I bought a LCD 22" monitor and the power usage dropped 17 watts. Even shutting the computer off it still uses 9 watts. The new LCD screen dropped the wattage 17=18 watts when running programs. I know I'll never recoup the cost of the LCD with power savings but I sure like the new display. BTW I bought one of these Kill A Watt to check all this. Also used it this summer to check the KWHs a small window air conditioner used. David...........http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93519
