you need to do a little leg work before you meet with the adjuster. do some internet searches to find similiar motorcycles that have recently sold and or are for sale with the prices. that way you can establish an approximate actual cash value. once you do that you have some documentation and a starting point for any negotiations. in the event that the bike is declared a total loss, depending on your state laws, you can settle with him for the actual cash value and do what is called a salvage buy back if you want to keep the bike. generally a salvage value is determined, and that amount will be deducted from the value of the unit, and a check issued for that amount. say the bike is worth 2000, salvage value is 200, you would get a check for 1800 and keep the bike. you may have to call a few motorcycle salvage shops and get some quotes on salvage prices. write down who you called and who you talked to. hope this helps you out. glenn
