John's answered it above. It wasn't a case of asking about +/-. John has an excellent, step-by-step troubleshooting guide for isolating and correcting charging problems on tractors.
Out in the middle of it he refers to the "lil -" and the "lil +" terminals on the coil. Being prone to intellectual curiosity, I thought that lil might be a shorthand of some sort. John's explanation above dispels any such notion in a way that does not disparage intellectual curiosity (It's short for little as opposed to big + and - symbols on the top of the coil.) I was tryin to over work it and make an lol or a btdt out of lil.
But I feel much better now that he's set me straight. How mortifyin'! ;8^)
