There are different styles. An old style with the thumb pin sticking out both sides id considered dangerous, and is replaced with a different style these days. Farm supply stores & good implement dealers have 3 or so different repair packs to repair most of them.
Basically you need to open the C clip, or tap out the compression cap, or otherwise get the old pin out, and put in new parts you find 'somewhere'.
I have a Vermeer baler where none of the standard repair packs fit, I need to talk to a dealer & find out what fits there.
