In Kansas bindweed (morning glory) is one of 14 weeds declared to be noxious weeds - and all landowners are required to eradicate it as best they can. Counties will share in the cost of eradication becuase it is so undesirable. There are a few species of 'morning glory' that are permissible and grown in gardens and flower beds - but a lot of folks can't tell those from common bindweed. I live in town now and my city-born wife planted morning glory by the back fence and I have been trying to kill it without killing the grass for five years - it is spreading everywhere so I may have to sacrifice the grass.
