I think the best way for an interview for a skilled trades job should be as follows: Here is a 240 outlet,(wire it up) here is a handful of breakers, romex and tools. (hook it all up) Here is a 100 amp disconnect box. (hook it all up) Best way to know if the guy is qualified. For a machinist interview one time a buddy of mine was handed an indicator, 1-2-3 block and told to tram the head of a bridgeport in and indicate in the machine vise. Also many other questions were asked too.
