When I interviewed for my present employer (29 years ago), I was in college. The company sent two interviewers, one from the personnel dept and one from engineering. Me and the engineering guy were having a good interview about working at this company and the personnel guy was pretty quiet, until finally he blurted out "I notice you have long hair and a beard, what do you think of all the other guys we've interviewed that have haircuts and are clean shaven?" Well, the engineering guy shot him a look that woulda stunned a brighter man, and I simply answered "Well, if you're interviewing them for modeling jobs, they'll win anyway, 'cause I'm probably not as good looking as they are even if I shaved." The personnel guy wasn't pleased with my answer, the engineering guy suppressed a chuckle, and I got the job and have been here 29 years.
