Seriously? If you put a hole in it cleaning it, then you have no business under the hood anway. I dont know if they increase MPG, but buying one for $40 to $60 bucks once and re-using it is cheaper than buying an air filter ever 10 to 15k in the dusty conditions I live in. Had mine for years and plenty of trouble free miles. Alot of folks that are against them, I think, just dont like the fact that they cost more than they want to pay.
