Make the switch a push button type. If using on a machine with magneto ignition and a engine that makes oil pressure use a HOBB switch. It is only neded to flash the alternator to make it work. If this is not used on an engine with battery ignition and an ignition switch you do not need the diode or the resistor. I have a set-up like this on an old 5 HP vertical shaft tiller frame.
