On the snow blades that I use in Northern Wis. -
sand country - I bolt an 4" or larger angle iron
on the botom of the blade in front of the cutting
edge with the other side going back under the
blade. Because of the angle of the blade edge the
second side forces about an inch or so of snow to
go under the blade. I can go over sand, gravel,
or the lawn without digging in. I bolt the angle
iron on by replacing a few of the bolts that hold
the blade edge on. Once there is a solid frozen
bas I can remove the "Sand Guard" and have the
cutting action of the regular blade edge if I want
it.
