okay, i changed points, also was going to change coil? there are two, the one mounted on top of distributor has been bypassed. yes, the "other coil, has wire going straight through the distributor coil on top of the front mount distributor. the tractor is a 12volt system, all of this means, the "other coil" which is more of a cylinder shaped coil, is what i should replace. tractor seemed to be losing power when under load, replaced plugs, points, distributor cap, rotor, was going to replace coil, following instructions with my handy dvd i order from yesterdays tractor! thanks.
