It's amazing what you can run an engine on. Last summer, I mistook diesel for my chainsaw gas and ran a full tank through before I realized what was wrong. About the only symptoms were that it smoked a little more and ran a little rough at idle. It cut just fine. I was concerned that it might not have lubricated enough but it looks like no harm was done. I believe I could have adjusted the carb settings and smoothed it out. During WWII, my uncle ran his truck on "distillate". He had a small can of gas, that he would switch the line to for start-up, then switch to a kero/heating oil mixture to run on. Same symptoms... smokey, but it ran.
