Distillate was also sold as 'tractor fuel', a possible substitute would probably be #1 Diesel (winter grade), but even burning distallate, the tractor had to be kept at a higher operating temperature to get the stuff to burn. Just run it on gas and be done with it, some of the low grade unleaded has about the same combustibility as distallate, especially in low compression engines.
