Back in the "Day",around 1964 I was Farming then and had an occasion to borrow the neighbors Farmall M. Drove it home all right but next day after putting Gas in it I worked it for about 3 hours on the Mower, Stopped to take a break and left it idling, all of a sudden it died. Went to restart it ,no luck, long story short, there was several Oats[no straw attached] floating around in the Gas Tank and when stopped one of them had drifted down and plugged the Tank outlet.Neighbor used it to grind feed with his Artsway Mill and the Oats must have got in then as he said he had run it out of Gas and put 5 Gallon Gas in from a Gas Can of questionable cleanliness.I put Gas in it from my overhead Tank so this pretty much eliminated the problem from my end.I saw one of the Oats in the sediment bowl so ,this sighting was what prompted me to check the Tractor Gas Tank.Neither one of us had ever had this experience before.
