Hydraulic Pump Location - Front of Engine vs. PTO ?

I've got a MH 333 with a hydraulic pump mounted on the front of the crank pulley. This year I've got to service it and I am considering relocating it to a platform at the rear hooked up to the PTO shaft. The reason is that it is one awful thing to get at and work on (hood/grille off, etc.). Also, there would be a lot less hoses running all over the place up front. I realize that I would reduce my PTO usefulness but any comments on my plan would be appreciated. Also, will I get enough RPM's out of the PTO to turn the pump fast enough? Thanks for your comments.
