With augers and PTO shafts I find that sometimes they just sit wrong. Kick the PTO in and shut it off again, sometimes it'll come now. Otherwise you may need a pipe wrench or a bar that you can get into the U-joints to try and turn the PTO shaft backwards. It won't turn much, but sometimes moving it just a few thousandths of an inch is enough to unbind it.
