Tecumseh Engine starter spring

I have an old Craftsman snow thrower (early 1960's) with a 6hp tecumseh engine - I am trying to find a starter recoil spring or the entire starter assembly - I really just need the spring(I know that this is a tractor forum but it is worth a try) - any ideas? The Craftsman website says parts are no longer avaialble for this model..
