The other guy is right a 351 sucks gas and does not have any power.I have a late 1978 f250 4x4 with one ton rearend, engine is a 400 with a regular 4 speed with the axle gears at 356.She will roll 75 mph in third gear(top speed about 125 to 130mph) and gets 14mpg.I have another 78 f250 4x4 lite duty rust bucket with a 351 low speed 4 speed and 354 rearend,lucky if she gets 7 mpg and only goes about 85 for top speed.If it was me i would keep looking for another truck.Even a chevy with a 350 engine from the 70s would be bettorthan a 351 ford, fuel sucking would be the same but at least you would have power to show for the fuel loss.
