You got those florescent units because they are junk. Forget about them. Go to an outlet an buy new, cold weather , hi intensity 8 foot units. They come on instantly, are brighter than regular florescents, and are just what you need. Wire them to be able to turn on different areas. I have 12 of them in my shop. You can get a sunburn in there if you turn them all on at once.
