Back in the early sixties, you could buy Studebaker trucks with the 3-53 in the one ton and the 4-53 in the one and half ton. GMC also offered the 4-53 in the two ton 6500. I took one of these motor/tranny (Clark)combos out of a GMC school bus and put it in my 1947 KB-5 International. It replaced a Chevy 283 which replaced the original flat head six. The 4-53 pulled a lot better than either motor. The noise at 2800 rpm was pure music to me, but I am sure my neighbors were glad when I replaced it with a larger truck with a DT-466. Still have the KB-5 after 39 years of ownership.
