Anyone had the power steering pump fail on their late model GM truck (2000-newer)? Last year, lady at the barn went to leave and had no power assist in her Suburban. Towed it to the shop and found that the Pump shaft had sheared. Figure it was just one of those things, and put on a new pump...GM said, "never happened before..." Today, wife calls and says she has no power assist on our 2002 Suburban- she managed to man-handle it home. I got home, pulled on the pulley (even with serp belt still in place) and out comes the shaft! Any GM Serv Mgrs or techs out there familiar with this? Recall? This is 2 for 2 on Suburbans in our circle of friends- no coincidental failure- and dangerous as hell if it happened on the highway or while towing!
