Sorry I can not agree with either one of the others. I brake engines free all the time. Shoot most tractors I buy have locked up engine so I have been there done that many many times. First off pull the starter off and make sure its not locked in the flywheel. Happens a lot. If thats not it then pull the plugs, one at a time. Fill the cylinders with tranny fluid. Put the plugs back in. Walk away from it for a day. Make sure it has a good 12 volt battery in it. Every time you walk by it hit the starter button, short fast taps do not hold it. Watch the crank pulley. If it moves any at all then pull ALL the plugs and try the starter again. Stand back or you may get a tranny fluid shower. Also BTDT many times and its a pain to wash off
