The chevys were known for cracking heads and using starters and eating injection pumps.Than they got a bright idea and put a turbo on it,anyway lucky for them the truck is so light(a surburban weighs more than a 1 ton)that it doesnt work the little peanut diesel too hard.The motor does not hold a candle to what ford or dodge offers and the the front end is too light to hold anything else.But dont dispare chevy has seen the light and will stop production on the worthless engine.they are bringing back a straight axle 4x4 with a diesel engine built by Isuzu.Or a 502 gas option course these are new and you are talking used my point being if the motor was so great why are they throwing it away after a few years,bettor yet call a machine shop and ask for head prices.With the price of diesel fuel buy a 454 gas if you want a chevy and you will have something.
