I just put a new compressor in my 98 and the switch is in back by the firewall - near the alternator.
I'm wondering though why you need to jumper it? Once you pull a vacuum on the system, and then add one 12 ounce can of refrigerant (without the engine even running) - there will be enough pressure in the system to open the switch. I know I didn't have to jumper mine.
